What is Kali and Eskrima?
Kali (also known as Arnis or Eskrima) is a comprehensive Filipino martial art that focuses on weapons-based combat — using sticks, knives, and blades — as well as empty-hand fighting techniques.
It is known for its speed, fluidity, and practical self-defense applications, emphasizing weapons training to develop skills that can also be applied to unarmed combat.
Kali shares surprising similarities with Colombian Machete Fencing (“Esgrima”), an Afro-Colombian fighting style practiced with wooden sticks or machetes.
