Prepare to embark on an intimate exploration of grief and transformation within the pages of “Kintsugi Your Heart: The Art Of Living With Grief.” In this heartfelt collection of poems, Carol Banens—a Certified Grief to Gratitude Coach and Certified Grief Educator—offers a deeply personal account of her own grief journey, following the loss of her beloved husband, Brian.

Drawing inspiration from the art of Kintsugi, the Japanese technique of mending broken pottery with gold, Carol beautifully weaves together the shattered fragments of her heart, transforming them into a life worth living. Divided into three sections—’Shattered,’ ‘In Pieces,’ and ‘Making Broken Beautiful’—this book of poems chronicles the full spectrum of the grieving experience.

With raw honesty, Carol illuminates the pain and loneliness that accompany loss, the disorienting struggle to adapt to a changed world, and the gentle steps towards self-discovery. Her collection of poems offers solace and inspiration, encouraging readers to not only allow themselves to grieve but also to embrace the possibility of a renewed life.

“Kintsugi Your Heart: The Art Of Living With Grief” serves as a compassionate companion, guiding readers through the labyrinth of grief while providing hope for healing and self-discovery. Allow Carol’s words to resonate with your own journey, offering solace, hope, and the gentle reminder that from shattered pieces, beautiful transformations can emerge.

Kintsugi Your Hear, The Art of Living With Grief.

5.0/ 5

Kintsugi Your Heart, The Art of Living With Grief puts the truth in an elegant and gentle flow that allows the reader to know they are not alone and , in ways, honestly jolts you awake with demanding awareness of grief, yet acceptance. Carol Banens’ debut collection of poems reaches deep into the soul to express intense pain and numbness of grief, while guiding the reading how to live wit and carry grief. Her poems state what those in the depth of grief are unable to find the words to articulate.

An experience lived, shared and to be heeded.

5.0/ 5

I received Carol’s book as a gift from a fellow person experiencing grief and with which I have “lived;”for 14 years BUT it has not been a depressing nor life-ending experience. It must be understood that living with grief is a life. Carol’s book provides a wonderful encouragement for such a life to be lived successfully and uplifting. I, as a Spiritual Care Coordinator for many years in a Long Term Care environment have distributed the book to many caregivers. Why? It is personal, experience proven and the format of poetry easily read and understood. It far surpasses many academic books on grief. It can be said it is the epitome of the old saying “better felt that tell’t.” I truly recommend this book for profound insight and provision to living the life of Grief successfully and beneficially. It truly helps attach the brokenness. Thank you Carol!
